Of all the citrus essential oils, Mandarin Essential Oil is often thought to have the sweetest aroma, and it tends to be less stimulating than most other citrus oils. Although it’s not typically found to be as stimulating, Mandarin Oil can be a wonderfully uplifting oil. Aromatically, it blends well with many other essential oils including citrus, floral, wood, spice and herb families of oils.

Mandarin essential oil is remarkable for dealing with cases of insomnia, nervousness, anxiety. It is one of the most calming essential oils that can help with depression and anxiety. The clean, fruity and uplifting aroma is liked by many and leaves a sweet-smelling fragrance around the house. Mandarin oil provides all-around relief and is perhaps one of the best oils for calming and balancing the mind.

Mandarin Essential Oil is often used when looking to reduce minor pain and inflammation as well as reduce the presence of unwanted bacteria. Because of its excellent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial properties, Mandarin Sweet Oil is an overall excellent skin tonic and an indispensable ingredient in skin care products intended for oily skin. Its clarifying properties can be beneficial for diminishing acne.

Aromatherapy:

One of the top benefits of Mandarin Essential Oil is definitely its stimulating and uplifting abilities. Add 8 to 10 drops in a diffuser or burner for the ultimate morning energy boost. The rejuvenating citrus scent of Mandarin Essential Oil is versatile and blends well with other citrus essential oils and oils in the mint, floral, wood, herbaceous and spice families.

Goodbye stress & anxiety:

Thanks to its zesty, fresh aroma – Mandarin essential oil is great for reducing anxiety. You may have noticed that most citrus-scented products, including home cleaning items, have a more relaxing and uplifting effect on your overall mood.

Nausea or Morning Sickness:

Thanks to its zesty and uplifting qualities, Mandarin Oil is excellent when it comes to alleviating nausea, vomiting – especially in pregnant women who are struggling with morning sickness. Simply smelling the bottle or diffusing Mandarin Essential Oil in a diffuser shows significant improvement in those symptoms.

For Aches:

Mandarin Oil is sometimes used in aromatherapy as a natural analgesic. The anti-stress effects of this oil may have something to do with how it helps our bodies interpret our pain without panicking.

Clear & Healthy Skin:

Did you know? Mandarin oil is one of several essential oils that can kill harmful bacteria that can grow on your skin. This makes a good choice for topically cleaning small wounds. It also has protective properties, such as antioxidants, that may brighten and preserve your skin tone. However, like most citrus oils, it can cause skin sensitivity when in the sun. Make sure to apply sunscreen or avoid sun exposure.

For the sniffles:

If you’re suffering from a sore throat, or the common cold, mandarin essential oil can be used as a great home remedy. You can diffuse it in the room to help you breathe a bit more easily and help relax your mind as well as the muscles in your throat. Its antimicrobial properties can also kill the bacteria and germs found in the air.

Acne of the past:

Mandarin Oil is a great choice when it comes to choosing an oil that regulates sebum production and fighting acne-causing bacteria. It also helps heal the skin barrier faster and keeps it hydrated and protected, all the while reducing redness and any swelling that may be present.

Keep aging at bay:

When we think Citrus Fruits, we think Vitamin C! And Vitamin C is one of the most powerful antioxidants known for cosmetic use. We all know that anti-oxidants are essential to keeping our skin youthful. Luckily, Mandarin Essential oil is packed with them! Incorporate those beautiful anti-oxidants in your skincare routine by adding a few drops of Mandarin Essential Oil to your daily moisturizer or face oil

Cuts & wounds:

Mandarin Essential Oil should be a staple in your first-aid kit. Since it has anti-bacterial and healing properties, it can help speed up wounds healing, along with any cuts or even insect bites. It can also reduce the appearance of scarring since it stimulates the regeneration of skin cells.

Ditch the chemicals:

Mandarin Essential oil’s anti-septic properties make it an ideal choice for those looking to switch from harmful household chemicals to more natural alternatives. It is also perfect for breaking down stubborn grease thanks to the natural acids found in it. You can use it to clean surfaces around the house or spray it to kill any bacteria in the air.

History:

Mandarins oranges are thought to be descendants from wild oranges that grew in northeast India around 3,000 years ago. From India, mandarins made their way to China and from China to Europe, North Africa and Australia before they traveled on to other parts of the world.

The first of these small, loose-skinned oranges were brought to England from China in 1805. From England, the mandarin made its way to Italy in the next decade, and from Italy it came into wide cultivation and spread to other Mediterranean countries including several in North Africa. From China, the mandarin was introduced into Australia in the 1820s.

Where the name comes from: The mandarin gained its nickname when it was introduced into England. Mandarin denoted the form of Chinese spoken by public officials and other educated people in China. The robes worn by public officials or mandarins in the Chinese empire of that time were deep orange and so this Chinese import was dubbed a mandarin.

Fun Facts About Mandarins:

  • The name “mandarin” refers to the bright orange robes worn by the Mandarins, who were public officials of the ancient Chinese court.
  • Although cultivated for over 3,000 years in China, mandarin oranges did not reach Europe and North America until the nineteenth century.
  • Mandarin oranges are an excellent source of Vitamin C.
  • Mandarins are a winter fruit. Mandarin oranges from Japan are a popular Christmas gift in the United States, Canada, and Russia.

Pets:

Using essential oils on pets:

The ability to tolerate essential oils is dependent on many factors, including plant species, product, dose, and route of application. Essential oil use cases show the most significant risk of toxicity is from direct skin application on your pet’s skin – these same cases also share that a large volume was applied directly and neat (pure without a carrier) to the pet’s skin. Knowing that there is a risk in using these oils to your pet’s fur or skin, we strongly recommend consultation with your veterinarian or animal care specialist prior to applying or exposure to any of our products.

If you’ve chosen to use essential oils around your pet, we first recommend taking note of your pets behavior, contacting your vet with any concerns, and the below list of Rūt products that we feel are the most pet-friendly:

Single note essential oils:

  • Chamomile
  • Frankincense
  • Clary Sage
  • Geranium
  • Rosemary

Should you choose to use your ultrasonic diffuser in the presence of your pet, we recommend:

  • Using only small amounts of essential oils. 1-5 drops are our recommendation
  • Ensure the space is well ventilated with a window open slightly for fresh air
  • Always keep a door open so that the animal can enter and exit the room easily
  • Take note of how your pet responds at all times and if you notice your pet resisting an aroma, discontinue use and move them to a well-ventilated space
  • Be particularly mindful of pets that are in cages or enclosed spaces (including birds and small rodents) as they cannot leave the room if they become uncomfortable
