1. PRODUCTS

 

Are your essential oils 100% pure?

Yes, our oils are 100% pure with no diluting oils, fillers, synthetic fragrances, or unnatural components of any kind.

 

Are your essential oils therapeutic grade?

Therapeutic grade is not an industry standard—it’s a trademarked term used to describe certain companies’ products. We prefer to speak about the quality of our products without buzzwords or marketing slogans.

Our oils are 100% pure with absolutely no fillers, diluting oils, synthetic fragrances, or unnatural components of any kind.

 

Why are your essential oils not certified organic?

We source our essential oils from over 20 different countries. All Rūt Essential oils are non-GMO, pesticide-free, and never tested on animals. If you’re curious to know more, you can find each oil’s Certificate of Analysis—including its purity and potency—on its product page.

 

Can I ingest your oils?

We do not suggest ingesting essential oils in general. However, all of our oils are 100% pure and natural. We recommend consulting with a physician about essential oil ingestion.

 

Where are your oils sourced from?

We source essential oils from more than 20 countries around the world. From France to Madagascar, we choose places that produce the highest-quality products—so that we can provide you with the best essential oils from around the globe.

 

When should I use energizing products?

We recommend energizing products when you wake up in the morning or the middle of the day as a pick-me-up.

 

When should I use balancing products?

Any time you want to bring a sense of harmony and peace to your day we recommend you use balancing products.

 

When should I use relaxing products?

Before bed or to ease stress throughout the day is the perfect time to use oils such as Lavender or Frankincense. 

 

How do I use the Ascent diffuser?

1. Remove ceramic cover and inner cover.

2. Connect the AC adapter to the DC socket on the base of the main body. Then plug the adapter into your wall outlet.

3. Fill the water tank to the water level indicator line. Add a few drops of your choice of essential oil (not included) into the water chamber.

4. Replace the inner cover and the ceramic cover.

5. Mist button:

Press once, the unit mists continuously for up to 3 hours

Press 2nd time, the unit mists intermittently for 6 hours (on/off every 30 seconds)

Press 3rd time to turn off the mist

6. Light button:

Press once to turn on the soft white light.

Press 2nd time to turn off soft white light

7. The unit will automatically shut off when the water level becomes low.

8. Use only 100% pure essential oils.

 

How do I clean the Ascent diffuser?

Always remove the power cord before cleaning. When not in use, empty the water and dry with a soft cloth to avoid mineral buildup. To remove possible buildup, gentle use a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol or white vinegar to wipe out the inside. Do not use strong cleaning agents. Do not pour any liquid into the vent.

 

Do you test your products on animals?

Absolutely not; we never have – and never will – test any Rūt Essentials products on animals.

 

Are your products vegan?

All our products are vegan.

 

Are your products FDA -approved?

By law, the FDA does not approve essential oils. However, at Rūt Essentials, our products are manufactured in accordance with the FDA’s current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), which help ensure quality and safety. Rūt Essentials also completes third-party lab testing for heavy metals, microbes, allergens, and other contaminants, ensuring our products are compliant with current guidelines and regulations.

How do I check my Rūt Rewards points balance on rutessentials.com?

Learning your points balance is as easy as contacting our Customer Experience team by email at info@rutessentials.com.  

How do I use an active promo code?

From time to time, Promotion Codes are available to access product discounts and free shipping. To use an active Promotion Code, add items to your online shopping cart, then proceed to the shipping and billing stage. Under “Promotion Codes”, enter your code, then click “Apply”. Promotion Codes are case sensitive. Be sure you enter the code exactly as it appears.  

How do I change or cancel my order?

Once an order is placed, it is on its way right away! Unfortunately, changes to orders are not possible after they’ve been placed. If you would like to return or exchange any part of your order, please contact our Customer Experience team, and they would be happy to help. How can I pay for my online order? What payments do you accept?

Visa, Mastercard, and American Express credit cards are all amazing payment methods you can use for your online Rūt Essentials order. Payments through Paypal are also accepted.  

How is sales tax calculated?

We charge sales and use tax according to Federal, Provincial and Local government guidelines, based on the shipping address you provide when you place an online order.  

What currency is the site in?

Prices in our store are in US dollars.

3. GIFT CARDS

 

Where do I purchase gift cards?

You can purchase an online Rūt gift card here.

 

How do I redeem an e-gift card?

E-gift cards will be delivered to recipients by email. When making a purchase, you can redeem a gift card’s value by entering its unique code at checkout. This code isn’t case-sensitive. A gift card holds a balance, which may be spent over more than one order. Gift card balances are applied to the total value of an order, including taxes and shipping.

When you redeem a gift card, the checkout displays one of the following options:

  • If the balance available on the gift card is greater than or equal to the order total, then you can click Complete order.
  • If the balance available on the gift card is less than the order total, then you are prompted to choose a second payment method for the balance before placing the order.

  

Is there tax applied to gift card purchases?

Sales tax will not be applied to the purchase of a gift card. If other merchandise is included in your order, the tax will apply only to those items.

 

Can I return a gift card?

Gift cards cannot be refunded or exchanged for cash unless required under applicable law.

 

Can I transfer a balance/combine two gift cards into one?

To transfer the balance of multiple gift card values onto one card, please contact us through email at info@rutessentials.com, and they would be happy to assist you with this request. Sorry, we cannot split an existing gift card’s value into multiple cards.

 

Can I use more than one gift card to purchase online?

Only one gift card can be used per online transaction at this time.

 

I can’t find the e-gift card sent to my email anymore, can you resend it?

E-gift cards may be sent to your email spam folder. Be sure to check all folders in your email account. If you’re still having trouble, please contact our Customer Experience team by email at info@rutessentials.com 

4. SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS

 

4.a. BABY & CHILDREN

 

Which products can I use on my baby and young child?

To keep your little one safe, for newborn to 24 months, we recommend that you always check with your pediatrician before introducing a new product to your baby’s routine. 

Can I use Rūt Essentials products in the same home or room as my baby?

Our products have no specified age range; however, remember to store products well away from your infant and child.

Are diffusers a safe way of introducing essential oils to children?

Ultrasonic diffusers effectively enhance the air of any environment. We recommend that:

– Less is More: use less essential oils in ultrasonic diffusers

– Diffusion Time: diffuse essential oils for 30-60 minutes on, then 30-60 minutes off

– Air Flow: whenever you are using or diffusing essential oils, offer fresh air with an open window or door

 

4.b. PREGNANCY

 

Can I use any Rūt Essentials products while I am pregnant?

Yes, but please consult your health care practitioner before use.

 

4.c. PETS

 

Can I use Rūt Essentials oils on my pet?

The ability to tolerate essential oils is dependent on many factors, including plant species, product, dose, and route of application. Essential oil use cases show the most significant risk of toxicity is from direct skin application on your pet’s skin – these same cases also share that a large volume was applied directly and neat (pure without a carrier) to the pet’s skin. Knowing that there is a risk in using these oils to your pet’s fur or skin, we strongly recommend consultation with your veterinarian or animal care specialist prior to applying or exposure to any of our products.

I’ve checked with my vet and am choosing to use essential oils around my pet. Do you have any Rūt Essentials product recommendations?

If you’ve chosen to use essential oils around your pet, we first recommend taking note of your pets behavior, contacting your vet with any concerns, and the below list of Rūt products that we feel are the most pet-friendly:

Single note essential oils:

– Chamomile Roman

– Frankincense

– Clary Sage

– Geranium

– Rosemary

Is it safe to use an ultrasonic diffuser with essential oils in a room with my pet in it?

Should you choose to use your ultrasonic diffuser in the presence of your pet, we recommend:

– Using only small amounts of essential oils. 1-5 drops are our recommendation

– Ensure the space is well ventilated with a window open slightly for fresh air

– Always keep a door open so that the animal can enter and exit the room easily

– Take note of how your pet responds at all times and if you notice your pet resisting an aroma, discontinue use and move them to a well-ventilated space

– Be particularly mindful of pets that are in cages or enclosed spaces (including birds and small rodents) as they cannot leave the room if they become uncomfortable
