Aromatherapy:

One of the top benefits of Ylang Ylang Essential Oil is definitely its mood-boosting yet soothing abilities. Add 8 to 10 drops in a diffuser or burner for the ultimate aromatherapy session.

Goodbye stress & anxiety:

Ylang Ylang essential oil is a go-to natural choice for reducing stress and anxiety. Many studies have shown that Ylang Ylang Essential oil carries potent anxiety-reducing, mood-enhancing and pain-relieving properties. It does so by reducing the levels of cortisol in the body (aka the stress hormones). To reduce stress, simply add a few drops of Ylang Ylang essential oil to your diffuser or oil burner to relax and unwind after a long day – or optimally, by your bed before sleeping. You can also apply the Ylang Ylang Essential Oil topically for the same benefits, but make sure to do a patch test before to ensure there are no allergic reactions.

A good night’s sleep:

Thanks to its stress-relieving qualities, Ylang Ylang Essential Oil is excellent when it comes to promoting faster and deeper sleep. You can diffuse Ylang Ylang Essential Oil in your room before sleeping or apply a few drops to your temples or behind your ears – or even use it as a pillow mist to have the best sleep of your life!

Relax and unwind:

Ylang Ylang Essential Oil has been used for many years to promote relaxation and peace of mind. To get the best relaxation benefits, simply add a few drops to a hot bath or add it to your body lotion or massage oil for the ultimate aromatherapy massage. The floral, sweet smell of Ylang Ylang will instantly relax you and create an air of serenity.

Hair growth goals:

Aside from relaxation and aromatherapy, Ylang Ylang Essential Oil has been used by many generations to stimulate hair growth. It does so by improving blood flow to the hair follicles, it also prevents infections and controls dandruff which gives you a healthier scalp. You can add a few drops to your shampoo, conditioner, or even make a hair oil using a carrier oil of your choice with a few drops of Ylang Ylang Essential Oil.

Beards need it too:

There’s a growing trend when it comes to beard care and beard oils – and there’s no better oil than Ylang Ylang when it comes to stimulating beard hair growth and keeping the skin underneath healthy. Ylang Ylang Essential Oil helps soothe the skin and controls acne breakouts thanks to its anti-microbial properties. You can simply dilute a few drops of Ylang Ylang Essential Oil in a carrier oil of your choice and gently massage it onto your beard.

Due to its formidable invigorating, repairing, and anti-oxidant properties, Ylang Ylang Essential Oil is a great additive to your daily skin routine. It is a mild essential oil and is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive, dry, and oily skin types. It helps restore the skin’s natural glow, protect the skin from free radical damage and oxidative stress, soothe irritated skin, and make the skin soft and supple.

History:

Ylang-ylang comes from South-East Asia, Indonesia and also the Philippines. This tropical forest tree was planted in the Indian Ocean at the beginning of the 20th century under the impetus of French clerics and settlers.
In the 19th century it took up residence in Mayotte. The production of Mayotte represents about 85% of the total production. It is also found in Nosy Be in Madagascar. Ylang-ylang is also found in the Greater Comoros, on the neighbouring islands of Anjouan and Moheli.

Ylang-ylang is of Indonesian origin. In fact, the flower comes from the Moluccan archipelago in eastern Indonesia. The first distillation laboratory was established in the Philippines in 1860 by Albertus Schwenger, a German sailor who fell in love with the precious flower. From 1860 to 1950, ylang-ylang oil par excellence was sold and recognised in perfumery in Europe. After being established in Reunion Island, ylang-ylang production is now developing in Madagascar and the Comoros archipelago.

Pets:

Using essential oils on pets:

The ability to tolerate essential oils is dependent on many factors, including plant species, product, dose, and route of application. Essential oil use cases show the most significant risk of toxicity is from direct skin application on your pet’s skin – these same cases also share that a large volume was applied directly and neat (pure without a carrier) to the pet’s skin. Knowing that there is a risk in using these oils to your pet’s fur or skin, we strongly recommend consultation with your veterinarian or animal care specialist prior to applying or exposure to any of our products.

If you’ve chosen to use essential oils around your pet, we first recommend taking note of your pets behavior, contacting your vet with any concerns, and the below list of R?t products that we feel are the most pet-friendly:

Single note essential oils:

  • Chamomile
  • Frankincense
  • Clary Sage
  • Geranium
  • Rosemary

Should you choose to use your ultrasonic diffuser in the presence of your pet, we recommend:

  • Using only small amounts of essential oils. 1-5 drops are our recommendation
  • Ensure the space is well ventilated with a window open slightly for fresh air
  • Always keep a door open so that the animal can enter and exit the room easily
  • Take note of how your pet responds at all times and if you notice your pet resisting an aroma, discontinue use and move them to a well-ventilated space
  • Be particularly mindful of pets that are in cages or enclosed spaces (including birds and small rodents) as they cannot leave the room if they become uncomfortable
